M-WERC launched a new working group on June 6, focusing on Smart Cities Technologies. The group focused on the Internet of Things, connectivity solutions, advanced sensors and big data as they start to transform how cities and municipalities provide a connected urban environment for their workers, residents, and visitors.

The first meeting included more than 100 participants and with a special presentation by the City of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

The working group held a formative / kickoff meeting in the afternoon, with 40 attendees representing some of the leading service and technology providers in the industry. The meeting featured an overview by consultant Melanie Nutter about what cities around the world are doing to become Smart Cities. If you are interested in joining this working group, please contact Nate Conroy at M-WERC.
